Tools for School 2022

On Saturday, August 13, 2022, 2nd Story Associates in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara hosted its annual Tools for School event thanks to a generous donation from Union Bank!

Community agencies hosted informational tables and shared important services and resources for families and youth in attendance. Seventeen community agencies attended the event, including Partners in Education, Cal-SOAP, Santa Barbara Public Library, Calm, Future Leaders of America, Santa Barbara Unified School District, Family Service Agency, and more. With a generous grant from Union Bank, we were able to provide 450 backpacks and school supplies to youth in K- 12 grades. Students were excited to receive their new backpacks and supplies for the school year ahead of them. 2nd Story is also grateful to First Five of Santa Barbara County for a grant that allowed us to provide preschool-aged bilingual books to children five and under.

This year’s event was held in person with COVID safety protocols in place, and included access to local youth-based community agencies.
