2nd Story Associates was born out of recognition of the growing need for quality affordable housing and supportive services in Santa Barbara. 2nd Story collaborates to create affordable housing in the Santa Barbara community. These developments seek to enhance the quality of life of low-income families, seniors and disabled individuals with an emphasis on promoting stability and self-sufficiency.

Together with you, we are helping families and vulnerable members of our community connect with critical resources that will enable them to experience safety, stability, and a good quality of life.
Resident lives are transformed by the support and stability of affordable housing and related services. We are proud of our efforts to strengthen our community and are grateful for many new opportunities on the horizon.

Family Self-Sufficiency Program Celebrates Its Graduates
The Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara honored 24 graduates who have completed the organization’s Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program with a ceremony and dinner on Monday, March 17, 2025 at Presidio Springs Community Room. At the ceremony, the graduates with their families celebrated the successful completion of their goals and journey toward self-sufficiency.
The FSS Program is a voluntary five-year program in which each participant develops a plan and a clear set of goals to achieve living wage employment and gain economic self-sufficiency. The FSS Program, aims to help participants achieve their own personal goals and greater socio-economic advancement, including college degrees, professional careers and first-time home ownership.
